Texting your agent
Last updated October 3, 2026
Real estate agents who use Rivie have a business phone number for texts and calls. You may have found one on a listing, a sign, an email signature, or an agent’s profile on a listing site. This page explains how texting with an agent through Rivie works. Rivie is operated by MatchHome, Inc.
How does it start?
A conversation starts in one of two ways:
- You text the agent first. By texting the agent’s number, you agree to receive text replies from that agent about the properties, showings, and offers you ask about.
- You give the agent your number and agree to texts. You tell the agent, in person, on a call, or on an inquiry, showing or application form, that they may text you about properties and showings. The agent can then text you first.
An agent only texts people who have agreed in one of these ways. Agreeing to texts from one agent is not agreeing to texts from anyone else.
What will I receive?
- Texts from that agent about properties and showings you are interested in, such as details and links for a listing, times to view it, confirmations, and documents like applications or leases.
- Texts are sent by your agent. Rivie may help them write a reply, and the agent stays responsible for what is sent.
- No marketing lists. Your number is never shared with or sold to anyone for marketing.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help and STOP to stop texts from that number at any time; reply START to receive them again. Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of buying, renting, or selling anything. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How do I stop?
Reply STOP, or any of UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT, to the number. You will get one text confirming it, and then no more texts from that number unless you reply START. You can still call the agent or email them as you normally would.
Where can I get help?
Reply HELP to the number, or email [email protected]. The full terms for texts are in our Terms of Service, and how we handle your number and messages is in our Privacy Policy.
